In the heart of the ancient forests surrounding Dunkeld, Scotland, stands the Rumbling Sawmill, a small operation with a big environmental heart. Unlike industrial giants, the Rumbling Sawmill specializes in salvaging timber from windblown giants claimed by time, giving these fallen sentinels a second life. Instead of decaying and releasing their stored carbon back into the atmosphere, this rescued wood is transformed by skilled hands into unique, handcrafted furniture. Each table, chair, and cabinet crafted at Rumbling Sawmill becomes a beautiful testament to sustainable forestry, locking away carbon for decades and proving that even a small, rural business can make a significant positive impact on the environment.

Our history

 "Rumbling Sawmill" began as a humble operation, built entirely from the ground up with grit and organic growth. Each piece of equipment was acquired with careful consideration, often second-hand or repurposed, reflecting a deep understanding of resourcefulness. The initial structure was simple, expanding gradually as demand grew and funds allowed. Relationships with local loggers and customers were forged through genuine connection and quality work, becoming the bedrock of our expanding business. It was a slow, deliberate process of building something enduring, fueled by passion and a commitment to crafting quality lumber, transforming raw materials and hard work into a thriving, respected business one board at a time.
