About Us
Rumbling Sawmill is a small, independent sawmill based in Dunkeld, Perthshire. We work with locally grown timber, milling logs into boards before turning them into furniture, buildings and bespoke joinery.
The business has grown steadily over the years. Much of our machinery has been bought second-hand, repaired and kept working, because we believe in making the most of what we've got. The same approach runs through everything we do, from using local timber wherever possible to carefully selecting each board for the job it's best suited to.
Many of the trees we work with have been blown down in storms or have reached the end of their natural life. Instead of letting that timber go to waste, we give it another purpose. By milling and using local timber, we're able to make the most of a valuable natural resource while keeping its story alive.
We process timber from start to finish. Logs are milled on site, air dried naturally, then machined and handcrafted in our workshop. By handling every stage ourselves, we know where the timber has come from and how it has been prepared.
Whether we're making a chopping board, a dining table or an oak-framed building, our aim is always the same: to create well-made pieces that will be used and enjoyed for many years. We believe good furniture should last, be repairable, and make the best use of the remarkable trees that grow around us.
